How to maintain relationships?

Shirley shares some tips on maintaining relationships

Every one of us has different characters and personalities. Nobody is perfect, conflicts can be frequent in a journey of love making it difficult to maintain relationships. Both parties are responsible for maintaining a relationship, let’s look at some points to consider:

1.  Possessiveness

When in a relationship, we often worry about a third party trying to spoil our relationship. The more we worry, the more we want to control our partner. This is only natural. Sometimes, we can even become possessive unknowingly.

Being possessive can cause our partners to go against us. Most of us don’t like to be controlled and want to have our own freedom. So, try not to be too possessive. A little bit can be good, too much of it is definitely bad.

2. Love, care and concern

Every one wants to be loved. Care and concern is the core essence of love and relationships. If it’s missing, you’ll feel something’s missing and find the relationship so meaningless.

So, learn to show love, care and concern for your partner. There are many ways to show your love, e.g. preparing a meal for him / her.

3. Understanding

Understanding each other is important in maintaining a relationship, and understanding a person takes great time and effort. So, no matter how busy we are, we still have to spend some time with our partners daily.

Spend time talking and listening to each other, find out how his / her day went. This can help us understand our partners more and reduce any unnecessary quarrels / conflicts that arise from lack of understanding.

There’re many other points to note in maintaining a relationship, but the above three points are, in my view, the most crucial points and the most common causes of breakups today. So, do put in effort to maintain your relationship before every thing is too late. All the best to you!

Cheers!

Shirley
